“Beauty lies deep within the roots of live” Lecia 2008
Lecia (full name Lisa A. Kimmerly) was born 1978 in Canada and raised In the City of Kawartha Lakes. At young age Lecia was recognized for her natural talent and teachers honoured her with enriched art classes at age eleven. Attending Port Perry High School in 1993 she continued to study art and graduated in 1997 with her Ontario Secondary Diploma.
In 1998 Lecia decided to take a break from her studies and travel the world; New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, U.S.A , England and Cuba are a few of the places that Lecia traveled to and still inspire her today.
Intrigued by world culture, humanity and entertainment, In 2001 Lecia attended Seneca College for computer animation. Completing Seneca collage in 2002 Lecia looked for inspiration elsewhere. Within the same year she practiced traditional animation at the Cartoon Saloon an animation studio located in a small orphanage outside of Kilkenny, Ireland. This is where her drawings and paintings came to life.
One of my favourite pieces by Lecia is entitled “Three Gail’s” a water color she designed in Ireland when she first felt and heard the screams of the Irish wind. Another favourite entitled “Great Expectations” a portrait of a ballet dancer and one of Lecia first Oil paintings that sold in 2004 at Lake Winds Spa in Port Perry.
Later on in life Lecia found inner peace within nature and her studies of flora & fauna. In 2006 Lecia compiled a collection of art entitled “Wild Flowers” an organic composition of creamy, white flowers placed on a burnt umber background that she borrowed from nature and painted on canvas. Lecia finds life in the roots of every flower a new beginning in every bud she paints what she feels and sees at any given moment and continues to paint today at her studio in Port Perry, Ontario Canada.
